Reading the Bible with a Friend: The Heart & Practicalities
Chris Munsterman
So, you've got friends. You also have a Bible. But how do you put those things together? Or do you even want to? Won't that be awkward? Come talk about the answers and learn how Jesus wants you to take part in His Great Commission with those around you, while also picking up some very practical tools and tips for how to get started.
Chris Munsterman came to know Christ at Northwest Missouri State through reading the Bible with a friend who happened to be a Navigator. He loves being around the lost, and learning new ways to share the gospel. He is on staff at the University of Missouri; and is also a husband, a father, and a giant nerd. Feel free to ask him about any of these things.
cultivating a praying life
Cully and Carmen Galloway
“Prayer is hard.” -Tim Keller.
We agree. But we really don’t think it always has to be. Jesus tells us that He now calls us His friends. Do you experience a relationship with Him like that’s true? We want to explore how to develop a lifestyle of prayer that feels like spending time with a close friend… who also happens to be the king of the universe and can do, “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”
Cully and Carmen Galloway reside in lovely Warrensburg, MO. They are in their 7th year as Navigators staff at UCM and enjoy tea, baking, board games, and petting their cat (he’s great). They both came to know the Lord as freshmen at K-State (EMAW) and are passionate about equipping students in this incredibly strategic season of life. Another passion for both of them is traveling internationally and experiencing other cultures.
The Heart of a Laborer
Bob Walz
Why is character the "Indispensable Element" for leadership? What can we learn from leaders in the Bible about the importance of character? How does a leader develop and grow in character? We will pursue these questions and discover how to make a plan with practical steps to mature in leadership character.
Bob Walz, serves as the Trainer Coach for the MidAmerica Region. As Trainer Coach he supervises the training of collegiate Navigator staff on six campuses in Iowa & Nebraska. Bob has been ministering to college students for over 40 years. Bob also writes and designs discipleship resources that he makes available on his website: www.dscplwrx.com
generational disciplemaking
Austin Olinger
Have you ever struggled to get a discipleship relationship started or make and develop a discipleship plan? In this workshop you will learn how to transition from an acquaintance/friendship to a meaningful discipleship relationship and develop a plan to help them know Christ and make Him known.
Austin Olinger grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and put his faith in Christ at 6 years old. It wasn’t until he went on a short-term mission trip to Guatemala in high school that his faith transitioned from “fire insurance” to true life in Jesus. When he got to college at Emporia State he was approached by a Junior who wanted to help with him walk with Jesus. Austin reluctantly said yes and grew in his faith like a weed. He started leading those around him in his dorm to Christ and discipling them. One of those people was his future wife. After graduating from Emporia State, Austin and his wife Amanda left for Denver to attend Denver Seminary, then joined Navigator staff at Kansas State. He currently serves as the Campus Director at the University of Arkansas.
